BALTIMORE, MD— Two juveniles, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, have been arrested in connection with an armed carjacking in Southwest Baltimore.
The incident occurred Tuesday, January 7, on West Pratt Street near South Stricker Street.
According to police, officers assigned to the Group Violence Unit were conducting an investigation on Wednesday, when they spotted the teens gaining access to a vehicle that had been reported stolen the day before.
Officers followed the vehicle to Park Avenue, where they initiated a traffic stop.
The 15-year-old girl, who was driving, attempted to run when officers approached, but was caught after a brief foot chase.
The 16-year-old boy was arrested without further incident.
Both suspects were transported to the Juvenile Justice Center, where they were processed and charged in relation to the armed carjacking.
In recent months, carjackings have been on the rise in Baltimore, prompting increased law enforcement attention and community concerns.
