(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore City Council member Odette Ramos says racist threats made against the Urban Reads Bookstore have been reported to the Attorney General's Hate Crimes unit.
She says bookstore owner Tia Hamilton has been the target of horrible social media messages and stalking behavior and that will not be tolerated.
Ramos says white supremacists are emboldened now and decided to pick on a Black woman and her business and what Hamilton has been going through is unacceptable.
Ramos says unfortunately, the federal level is "declaring war on our Black and Brown communities" but Baltimore will not back down and will continue to proudly celebrate its diversity.
She says anyone who experiences racial harassment or threats should call the Maryland Hate Crimes hotline at 1-866-481-8361.
