BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — Baltimore County police are warning residents about a surge in daytime burglaries linked to an organized group of thieves.
Officials say more than 30 burglaries have been reported in the first three months of the year, with single-family homes being the primary targets.
The group splits into teams, usually consisting of two to three women, and focuses on neighborhoods where residents are older and home surveillance systems are less common.
According to police, the suspects often arrive in a vehicle driven by a male.
The driver drops them off before they approach homes pretending to be interested in buying something.
While one suspect distracts the resident, the others force entry into the home through a side or back door.
Police say their primary target is high-value jewelry.
