(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott is pushing back after President Trump called the city "so far gone" on crime.

The president's comments came during a Monday morning White House news conference to announce the deployment of the National Guard to address crime in DC.

Trump included Baltimore with other cities like Oakland and Chicago, claiming they're plagued by violence despite recent declines.

In a post on social media, Scott said the president should "turn off the right-wing propaganda" and look at the facts, noting violent crime in Baltimore is at historic lows.

The mayor added that Trump's comments are a distraction from more pressing issues, including the U.S. economy under his leadership.
