(WEAA)—Baltimore County police are investigating after threats were shared online by an 11-year-old student at Sparrows Point Middle School, according to a statement released Tuesday.
The department says School Resource Officers and detectives from its Behavioral Assessment Unit are working with Baltimore County Public Schools to assess the situation.
Officers have spoken with the child’s parents, school administrators and community members and say "any potential or perceived threats have been mitigated and there is no active threat".
Police are reminding students and families that making threats is a serious matter and can cause significant disruption in schools and the community.
Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge of a threat or suspicious activity to report it immediately.
