Federal officials are announcing a cutback in the number of flights in U.S. airspace starting Friday morning and some area airports may be affected.

According to ABC News, BWI Marshal, Dulles and Reagan National are reportedly on the list of 40 airports where the FAA will be cutting 10 percent of flight traffic.

The FAA says the cuts are the result of staffing shortages during the federal government shutdown.
