Maryland is the nation's fifth most expensive state for household bills.
According to online bill-paying platform doxo, the state's median cost for a mortgage is just over $1950, renters average close to $1700 a month, cable and internet costs are around $125 and electricity averages $150.
California has the costliest bills followed by Hawaii, New Jersey and Massachusetts.
The least expensive states for household bills include West Virginia, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
