BALTIMORE, MD — Mayor Brandon M. Scott has released a statement on the city's latest crime numbers.
So far this year, Baltimore has recorded 22 homicides and 41 non-fatal shootings, slightly above the same period last year, which saw 20 homicides and 37 non-fatal shootings.
“One life is one too many. In 2025, we set a new benchmark for historically low violence in our city, and, so far this year, we are maintaining levels close to that progress. While the work that has gone into consistently maintaining that decrease should be noted, it is clear that there is more work to do in order for us to decrease violence across Baltimore even further than last year,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “Baltimoreans have my commitment that all of City government remains focused on tackling this issue, just as we have been since my first day in office.”
The city's Group Violence Reduction Strategy is also showing results. As of February 24th, the program has led to more than 617 arrests and connected over 360 people to life coaching and support services through YAP, Inc. and Roca.
As of February 28th, carjackings are down 61 percent, burglaries down 24 percent, auto theft down 22 percent, and total robberies down 32 percent — all compared to this time last year.
