Baltimore Police photo of active shooter incident in NW.

(Baltimore, Md) — A Baltimore police officer was shot and a suspect was killed Tuesday morning after officers responded to a burglary call in the Park Heights neighborhood.

The incident occurred at Park Heights Avenue and Pinkney Road. A 36-year-old officer was shot in the leg after the suspect opened fire on officers and is expected to recover.

The suspect was killed by a department sniper. Police say two women were inside the home during the standoff — one jumped from a window trying to escape and another was seen with a gun pointed to her head by the suspect.

Authorities say one of victims and the suspect are related.
