Seven juveniles arrested following downtown Baltimore disturbances

By WEAA News Staff

Seven juveniles were arrested in downtown Baltimore Sunday after large groups of young people were seen fighting and acting disorderly, prompting a response from city police.

Officers responded to multiple locations as crowds moved through the area. Three 13-year-old boys were arrested for attempted armed robbery in the 200 block of East Lombard Street. A 13-year-old girl was charged with assault in the 600 block of East Lombard Street. At Market Place, police arrested three additional suspects aged 12, 14 and 17 for assault. No injuries were reported.

Police Commissioner Richard Worley said officers became aware of the disturbances after a teen link-up was promoted on social media. He warned that anyone who engages in violence, incites an unlawful assembly or participates in robberies or disorderly conduct will be arrested and held accountable.

Mayor Brandon Scott said Baltimore will not allow a few individuals to disrupt the spring and summer for young people across the city. He called on parents to know where their children are, set rules and enforce them, saying the behavior witnessed Sunday is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
