Former Anne Arundel Co. officer pleads guilty to felony for leaving accident resulting in death

(Baltimore, MD) -- A former Anne Arundel County Police officer has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Alexander Rodriguez entered the guilty plea in exchange for a sentence of five-years in prison with all but 120 days suspended, two years of supervised probation and 100 hours of community service.

In addition, he has agreed to not to seek a career in law enforcement.

In 2024, Rodriguez was involved in a high-speed chase of a motorcycle that went through Anne Arundel, Prince George's and Howard counties where the rider crashed and was killed.

Rodriguez did not notify anyone about the pursuit or crash and left the scene to continue his shift.

“No one who endangers lives and then abandons a crash that resulted in a man's death on the side of the road should be allowed to wear a police uniform. By accepting this plea agreement, Rodriguez will never again serve as a law enforcement officer in Maryland," said Attorney General Brown. “We cannot keep our communities safe if we do not hold people accountable when they break the law. The outcome that our Office secured makes clear that no one is above the law, regardless of their career."
