(Baltimore, MD) -- The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the Baltimore area.
In addition to that warning, Baltimore has declared a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert through Saturday.
Mayor Brandon Scott and the Baltimore Office of Emergency Management are urging residents to take immediate precautions and prepare for the prolonged stretch of heat.
The city issues a Code Red when weather conditions are severe enough to present a considerable threat to the health and safety of residents.
During the declaration, the city coordinates resources and public health messaging to help residents stay safe.
