(WEAA) — Baltimore City and the surrounding metro area are under an Extreme Heat Warning today and Friday, with temperatures expected to reach the low 100s and heat indices as high as 114 degrees.
The warnings are in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. An Air Quality Alert is also in effect, with pollution levels reaching unhealthy concentrations for sensitive groups including children, the elderly and those with asthma, heart or lung disease.
To help residents stay safe, the city is extending hours at all park and neighborhood pools. Pools that are normally closed Sundays will remain open while the Code Red Extreme Heat Alert is active.
The Druid Hill Park Pool will close at 4 p.m. Friday to prepare for a Teen Pool Party as part of the In the Mix in '26 initiative, which provides safe activities for Baltimore's young people.
