(Harford County, MD) -- A Baltimore Police officer faces rape charges in Harford County.

The Sheriff's Office began an investigation on June 3rd after a woman reported the alleged incident.

According to detectives, Officer Daniel Oxendine encountered the woman while investigating an unrelated call in Baltimore City.

The woman needed a ride to her home in Edgewood, and Oxendine's supervisor authorized him to drive her there.

According to the woman, after they arrived at her home, Oxendine entered her apartment and sexually assaulted her.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office says DNA identified Oxendine as the suspect and he was arrested.

He is charged with two counts of first-degree rape; two counts of second-degree rape; and two counts of a law enforcement officer engaging in a sexual act with a victim or witness of an investigation.

Based on information gathered, detectives believe this officer may have committed similar offenses outside of this incident.
