(Baltimore, MD) -- A serial burglar faces up to 66 years in prison in connection with a series of hotel burglaries in Baltimore.
Jamal Gardner, 35, pleaded guilty to three counts each of first-degree and fourth-degree burglary and three theft counts for stealing items from hotel rooms at the Marriott Inner Harbor.
“People come to Baltimore to experience all that our city has to offer. They should be able to do so without worrying that they will become the victim of a crime. Having your hotel room burglarized is not just a property crime; it is a deeply violating experience that can stain an otherwise memorable visit to our city. We will not accept that as the price of doing business in Baltimore,” said State’s Attorney Ivan J. Bates.
Durign one incident, police say detectives recovered CCTV showing the Gardner enter the victim’s locked hotel room using a metal tool to force the door open.
He was arrested after investigators carried out a search warrant at his home and located stolen property that included passports, credit cards, valuable jewelry, laptops, iPads and checks.
Gardner has 13 other cases pending.
