Oct.22, 2026 Police Involved Shooting in the 3900 block of Erdman Avenue.

(Baltimore, MD) -- A man is in critical condition after being shot by a Baltimore police officer in the Belair-Edison neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

Police say the officer chased the man along Erdman Avenue after he ran away during an encounter with the officer.

Investigators say the man pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the officer, who then fired multiple shots.

Police recovered a gun at the scene, and the Maryland Attorney General's Office has been notified of the investigation.

Mayor Brandon Scott released the following statement, “While we await the outcome of that investigation, I want to underscore that we will not tolerate violence against BPD officers doing their jobs, and we cannot have individuals dangerously wielding firearms in our communities—especially near libraries and child care centers, which should be safe spaces. We are fortunate that others were not injured.”
