(CHICAGO) —Tensions ran high outside the Democratic National Convention in Chicago as a large-scale demonstration unfolded.
A heavy law enforcement presence—including Chicago Police, state police, and federal agencies—ensured that all protesters were confined to a single secured area.
Demonstrators expressed their concerns over a range of issues. The largest protest, opposing the Israel-Hamas conflict, occurred in the evening while Vice President Kamala Harris was delivering her speech.
Around 300 demonstrators were surrounded by a comparable number of riot police. No violent incidents were reported.
