BGE warns of higher winter bills

(Baltimore, MD) -- BGE says customers should expect higher energy bills after one of the coldest starts to the winter season in years.

The utility says December and January were among the coldest months of the past decade, driving up heating use even when thermostats stayed the same.

BGE reports its systems handled the extreme cold, but the prolonged demand means both gas and electric customers will see increased usage on their bills.

The company is urging customers to explore payment assistance and energy-savings tools available on its website.
