(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore's Safe Summer program is underway.
Mayor Brandon Scott launched the program at Druid Hill Park on Saturday, saying Safe Streets will be holding community events and connecting residents with resources as part of the work to promote peace and public safety.
The mayor says this year's slogan of Breaking Chains, Chasing Change, highlights the work that Safe Streets does to make communities safer - not just during the summer but year-round.
Last year, Safe Streets sites held around 60 events as part of Safe Summer ranging from community block parties to school supply giveaways.
A full list of events can be found on MONSE's website.
