OCEAN CITY, Md. (WEAA) — Ocean City police say a Good Samaritan rescued a 2-year-old girl from Assawoman Bay after she was ejected during a multi-vehicle collision.
The five-vehicle crash occurred just before 3 p.m. Sunday on Route 90 Bridge.
Police say the child was ejected with her carseat from a pickup truck.
According to reports, the witness jumped from the bridge into the bay and rescued the girl.
Police believe multiple crashes occurred.
Officials say eight people were transported to hospitals, the child was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital.
All of the individuals have since been released from care except for the child who remains in stable condition.
The Good Samaritan wishes to remain anonymous at this time.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
UPDATE from OCFD (4:20 p.m.): Ocean City Fire, EMS, and Police Units are on the scene of a serious motor vehicle crash on the Route 90 bridge. Paramedics have treated and transported multiple priority patients, and Maryland State Police Aviation was utilized.
