Ella Baker; Healing Baltimore City; Sexual Assault Awareness Month

BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — April is Confederate History Month in many Southern states. Confederate History Month was established to recognize and honor the history of the Confederate States of America.

Topic #1

As a pushback to Confederate History Month, Ella Baker Day was created. Ella, who was born in Virginia, was a community organizer and activist who helped shaped the development of the Civil Rights Movement. 

 

Topic #2

Dr. Kaye holds a discussion on healing Baltimore City. 

Baltimore City Councilman Zeke Cohen joins Dr. Kaye to discuss the city’s fight against COVID-19, violent crime, traumatic grief and mental health. 

 

Topic #3

April is also Sexual Assault Awareness Month. 

Lisae C. Jordan, Executive Director & Counsel for the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault also joins Dr. Kaye to share how parents and community members can help prevent sexual assault and abuse. 

 

Lisae also talks about resources created to empower survivors and actions bystanders can take to prevent an assault. 

 

Topic #4

In the second hour, Dr. Kaye talks about advance directives and end-of life decisions.
