BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) Beginning Friday at 5 p.m, Maryland will relax several COVID-related restrictions but the statewide mask order will remain in place.
On Tuesday, Governor Larry Hogan announced capacity limits will be lifted on outdoor and indoor dining, retail, religious facilities, fitness centers, casinos, personal services and indoor recreational establishments.
State officials say Maryland continues to see significant improvements in health metrics.
“All of our vaccine progress along with all of our sustained positive improvements...have enabled us to continue to follow the science and to be able today to take significant steps to further ease more of the mitigation measures currently in place", says Gov. Hogan.
Additionally, large outdoor and indoor venues may expand their capacity to 50%.

The state’s positivity rate is 3.4%. According to the governor, that is better than 39 other states.
Hospitalizations are at the lowest level since November 10. Currently, 792 patients are hospitalized due to the coronavirus.
The governor also announced he is lifting the quarantine requirements on out-of-state travel but encourages all travelers to still get tested.
