BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) Maryland health officials are partnering with two of the state's Historically Black Colleges and Universities to increase community access to the COVID-19 vaccine.
Morgan State University, the largest HBCU in the state, will host a 3-day walk-up clinic starting on April 30.
The vaccination site in northeast Baltimore will administer the Pfizer vaccine to students, faculty and community residents Friday through Sunday between 10 am and 4 pm.
The annoucement was made during Governor Larry Hogan's COVID-19 press conference on Wednesday.
Morgan State President Dr. David Wilson said he appreciates Maryland officials recognizing the university’s value as a vital resource and location in expanding community access to the COVID-19 vaccine.
“The familiarity with the University within communities throughout the city and the high regard that many have for Morgan as an anchor institution will further public confidence increasing the likelihood that individuals will receive the vaccine. Morgan is the right collaborator to advance the role of science in the fight against the spread of COVID-19", Dr. Wilson said.
Officials also confirmed Bowie State University, in conjunction with the Vaccine Equity Task Force, will hold a town hall on April 26 to educate and provide a vaccine to community members on that same day.
