The Community Cares partner for April is the Casey Cares Foundation, which make little moments lasting memories.
Seventeen years ago, the program was set into motion by Casey Baynes, who volunteered at a hospital. She heard one little boy who was diagnosed with a terminal illness say that he wished he had cancer because his roommate received gifts and other things. Casey Cares was born out of that statement, because Ms. Baynes realized that each child, no matter how ill, still wished they were receiving something.
Casey Cares provides activities for critically ill children, and gives their brothers, sisters, and parents a chance to relax, recharge and reconnect with the world. Opportunities to go to Hershey Park, Washington, D.C. or Busch Gardens and more are provided to the families. The Pajama Wearhouse, The Better Together Program and Caring Connections Program are just a few of the many creations that provide little moments and lasting memories to families with critically ill children through uplifting yearround programs.
