Restoring Destiny | Mental health agency breaking barriers in Baltimore communities

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Heartscape with Cari K. is shining the spotlight on  Restoring Destiny Mental Health Services, a Black-owned mental health agency in Baltimore.

(WEAA)— Restoring Destinyis a mental health agency that specializes in culturally relevant, trauma informed mental health treatment in Baltimore City.

Its mission is to provide adolescents and adults with evidence-based mental health and support services that will equip them with skills necessary to improve their quality of life.

Restoring Destiny was founded in 2018 by Jessica Fauntleroy, a mental health advocate, licensed certified social worker and graduate of Morgan State University.

The West Baltimore native says growing up in an impoverished and crime ridden community exposed her to overwhelming circumstances that motivated her to not only want to break generational trauma but also mental health barriers in communities, especially those of color.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the agency is only offering virtual services at this time but plans to open an office in downtown Baltimore this summer.
