The term food desert has been brought to light because of the recent mass shooting at a supermarket in Buffalo leaving residents without immediate access to groceries.
Student reporter Ashlyn Wilson spoke with Dr. Tanya McGee, an Urban Planner in upstate New York and Dr. Anita Hawkins from the School of Community Health and Policy here at Morgan State about food deserts and the importance of providing quality food selections.
