(WEAA)— Last night Maryland celebrated 63rd Governor Wes Moore and running mate Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller as they made history.
The People's Ball at The Convention Center in Baltimore, was a night filled with food, music, and surprise appearances.
"James said y'all are about 15,000 deep. I think that's about right", said Governor Wes Moore. Officially 11,000 tickets were sold for the event.
Along with Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, celebrities like comedian Chris Tucker, Baltimore native NBA star Carmelo Anthony and singer Maxwell came to commemorate the moment.

"Tonight is about the people that supported us", said Governor Wes Moore. Yet, he made it clear that work begins today and he is ready to get started.
Attendees filled the room with hope and gratitude.
"We did a 500 people event in the Asian community to support him and a lot of this is based on what he said. It's very sincere. I have no doubt he will be a good governor for the state of Maryland", said Hayne Chan President of The US China Association.
"Both Wes Moore and Aruna Miller to me, represent a piece of the solution", said Ariana Ross, CEO of Story Tapestries.
Wes Moore made history as the first African American Governor of Maryland and Aruna Miller became the first South Asian women Lt. Governor in the United States.
