Morgan News Hour: Coppin State to host Mid-Atlantic Black Farmers Conference in October

Dr. Yolanda Savoy of Coppin State University highlights the school’s work in environmental sciences, nutritional sciences and environmental health, with a focus on food justice and support for Black farmers.

Coppin State will host the Mid-Atlantic Black Farmers Conference Oct. 9–11. The event features a farmers market and urban bus tours.

Jennifer West and Erica Jones stress the role of Black women farmers in addressing nutritional disparities and strengthening local economies.

The conference also includes workshops on beekeeping, infrastructure development and cooking demonstrations, with an emphasis on seasonal, nutrient-rich produce.
