Tamara Payne is a Baltimore-based artist who credits her creative talent to her faith and her late mother.
Her work includes mosaic murals, installations, and refabricating items like clothing and furniture.
Payne's recent thesis exhibition, "We Echo the Voices of Our Ancestors," was inspired by her mother's passing and her research into her family history.
She comes from a strong lineage of women in leadership and says her work reflects all of her experiences growing up. In it, she tries to capture what home feels like today without her mom, ultimately realizing that home is really something we carry within ourselves.
