I am making the argument that America is not the greatest country in the world. I believe that there have been moments where we have been. I believe that we have the potential to be again. But at this moment, you cannot be the greatest country in the world when three and four-year-olds are being shot just out playing. You can't be the greatest country in the world when you have people rolling up to block parties and pulling out guns. You can't be the greatest country in the world when down in D.C. people are riding by rolling down their windows and just spraying bullets. You can't be the greatest country in the world when people show up in bulletproof vests with AR 15's to shoot at individuals that they don't know.
We can't be the greatest country in the world when black folks get shot just at a prayer meeting on a Wednesday night down in Charleston, South Carolina. We can't be the greatest country in the world, when black folks go to the grocery store up in upstate New York and they get shot just going to get their groceries in the one grocery store in their community. You cannot be the greatest country in the world when a mother knocks on the door of a woman trying to get her child's iPad back and the woman shoots and kills her through the door and she's walking around as a free woman. You can't be the greatest country in the world where our children are recognizing that the only way that they can move forward, the only way they can get people's attention is to exploit themselves on social media, doing something dangerous.- Dr. Kaye
