(WEAA)— Baltimore mayoral candidate Sheila Dixon is responding after being called a 'mutt' by Josh Fannon, a Baltimore fire union leader.
According to reports, Fannon's comment was shared via email to Baltimore County's fire union president John Sibiga, who then shared it with his members.
In addressing Fannon's offensive remark, Dr. Kaye reflects on her experiences of degradation.
Both women highlight systemic problems within the Baltimore Fire Department and underscore the significance of respectful communication, direct apologies, and the challenges Black women face in politics.
I apologize for my choice of words regarding former Mayor Sheila Dixon. I’m passionate about our firefighters and we will continue to advocate fiercely against past policies that hurt our firefighters and respectfully hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
