A shocking and tragic series of events unfolded in Minnesota over the weekend, ending with the arrest of a man accused of killing a prominent state lawmaker and injuring others.
Vance Boelter was taken into custody Sunday after surrendering to officers in the woods near his home, following an intense two-day manhunt that gripped the entire state. Boelter has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
Authorities say Boelter posed as a police officer before fatally shooting former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman, a Democrat, and her husband, Mark Hortman, in their suburban Minneapolis home early Saturday. He is also accused of shooting State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at their residence roughly nine miles away. Both were injured in the attack.
On this episode, Former Baltimore Police Commissioner Darryl DeSousa joins Dr. Kaye to discuss the dangers of police impersonation, how civilians can protect themselves, and the do’s and don’ts when dealing with law enforcement.
