Grief is more than a personal struggle — it's a public health crisis, and Baltimore's children are bearing the weight of it.
That's the message from Dr. Gregory Branch, Vice President of Roberta's House, who joins Dr. Kaye to discuss the long-term consequences of unaddressed grief, including depression and anxiety, particularly among young people.
Branch draws on his own experience with delayed grief and the work Roberta's House is doing to meet people where they are — through peer support groups, counseling and therapeutic activities. The organization also partners with schools and universities and welcomes volunteers.
Branch says recognizing grief is the first step toward turning pain into purpose.
