In honor of the anniversary of September 11, WEAA's Dr. Kaye hosted a memorial conversation with two guests carrying the weight and responsibility of that day forward.
James Dowdell, a New York City Fire Department lieutenant and son of 9/11 victim Lieutenant Kevin Dowdell, shared his personal experience of that day — including the lockdown at his school, the long search for his father's remains and the recovery of his father's Halligan tool.
He spoke about his decision to follow his father into the fire department and the importance of keeping the memory of 9/11 alive.
Dr. Elizabeth Hillman, President and CEO of the 9/11 Memorial Museum, discussed the museum's efforts to educate younger generations through digital resources, exhibitions and a new special exhibition titled "In Their Honor."
