(WEAA)— During a City Council meeting on Baltimore’s Dollar House program Tuesday, a proponent of the bill and Councilwoman Odette Ramos had a heated exchange.
‘I did not expect to be insulted the way that I was’, Councilwoman Ramos shared with WEAA.
Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) Chief Executive Bruce Marks is in support of the program but some council members, such as Ramos, are concerned some new homeowners won’t be able to financially handle the large costs of renovating.
While debating the legislation, tensions ran high between Ramos and Marks when the councilwoman expressed her concerns over the bill.
“During this Dollar Home hearing the key witness (President of NACA) personally insulted our Mayor and Councilmember Ramos. He also made a veiled threat about a riot breaking out with 700 people that are supposedly at city hall. I counted about 150. I won’t stand for that nonsense” Councilman Zeke Cohen tweeted.
Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.)Tyrone Bost also joins Two Way Talk to share his insight on the Dollar House program.

I won’t stand for that nonsense.
Continuing to reflect on last night, a white man from out of state rallied Black people from outside of the city in our City Hall, then indicated that they may be rioters, and that the safest way to avoid them rioting was to let him be heard as their voice. pic.twitter.com/mMvr8XLuJo

The fact that this alone wasn’t enough to have this man, this total stranger, a paid ringleader, called out of order, or his veiled threat of a riot… That didn’t get the gavel. He was welcomed. A total mockery of a legislative convening. https://t.co/0zbRje6LkD
