(WEAA)—The Paw Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the declawing of cats.

Dr. Jennifer Conrad, founder and director of The Paw Project joins Two Way Talk to discuss how the “potentially crippling” procedure can harm the animal’s physical health and result in behavioral changes.

“It's ten separate amputations if you do their front paws…” says Dr. Conrad.

In April, Governor Larry Hogan signed into law a bill that bans the declawing of cats, making Maryland the second state to forbid the practice. The law takes effect October 1, 2022.
