(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott and Acting Police Commissioner Richard Worley held their second in-person community engagement meeting last night as part of Worley's confirmation process.

The meeting at the Shake and Bake Family Fun Center in West Baltimore drew a standing-room-only crowd with many residents expressing concern about juvenile crime and overall public safety.

The mayor and acting commissioner pointed out that homicides and non-fatal shootings are lower than they were at this time last year, but some residents said youth crime is out of control and they're not being held accountable.

"Last night we had our 4th community engagement meeting with Baltimore Police Department Acting Commissioner Rich Worley to talk about the actions we’re taking and the accountability our communities want to see. The voices of our residents are at the very heart of our progress in transforming the Baltimore Police Department and building a stronger Baltimore. I want each of you to know that we are listening, we are making progress, and we will continue the work to build a safe and stronger Baltimore," said Mayor Scott.

Several more community meetings are scheduled before the City Council holds a confirmation hearing for Worley on September 21.
