Morgan State’s men’s basketball team arrived in Europe last week for a nine-day trip featuring four games between Belgium and France.
The Bears will play exhibition games versus host teams in Brugge, Antwerp, Brussels and Paris, though coach Kevin Broadas said the team has a dual purpose in traveling abroad centering on cultural enrichment and team-building.
Athletics director Dena Freeman-Patton joined the team on the road, as well as school administrators and wives of the coaching staff.
The Bears opened the trip with a 12-point victory over Konitich – a quick-attacking team filled with skilled semi-professionals.
It was an impressive win for a Morgan team that returns only four players from last year’s roster.
