Project: The Biddle, a thrift store located in Midtown, Baltimore.

The Biddle was originally opened by Kai Lively about 4 years ago as a passion project of his own to sell second hand clothes for affordable prices in the community. Needing a break from the store, he has now entrusted my friends and I with that vision for the foreseeable future. Using the rich history of the city and its community, we plan to uphold Kai’s dream while putting our own twist on it.

Scope: To make The Biddle profitable enough to keep the lights on and become a staple spot in Baltimore.

Goal: To use The Biddle as a Pan-Africanist hub to organize, build community, and to create a third space for people to feel welcome in. The Biddle also doubles as a venue for anyone who is willing to rent the space.

Those included in this project are Elijah Pittman, Tianna Jameswhite, and Jonah Foxworth.

Success: For us, success for The Biddle is when the space is being used to organize with one another while also offering a safe space for students and members of the community to congregate. Success is also ensuring that those who shop at the thrift store will always leave satisfied with what they’ve bought. Though we need money to keep the space alive, monetary gain is not something that we measure success by. We are doing this for the pure love we have for The Biddle.
