(Towson, MD) -- Whether it is for back-to-school or getting a jump start to holiday shopping, tax-free shopping is set to return to Maryland later this month.
The Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week returns August 14th and runs through the 20th.
Under the program any item of clothing or footwear under one-hundred-dollars will be exempt from the state sales tax.
Also, the first forty-dollars of any backpack is also tax-free.
State Comptroller Peter Franchot is encouraging residents to take advantage of shopping tax-free not only for back-to-school bargains but is encouraging people to also shop for themselves.
