Baltimore Board of Estimates approves water, sewer rate hikes

(Baltimore, MD) -- The Baltimore Board of Estimates has approved the Department of Public Works request to increase water and sewer rates in the city.

Beginning February 1st, the sewer rate will increase by 15-percent there will be a three-percent increase in water bills.

There will also be increases for the 2026 and 2027 fiscal years at nine-percent for water, nine-percent for sewer and three-percent for stormwater.

Before taking the vote, the panel heard from city residents who spoke out against the increase, but the DPW says it's needed to maintain the city's financial stability and update infrastructure projects.
