(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott is urging city residents to stay out of closed pools after a 25-year-old man nearly drowned over the weekend at the Walter P. Carter neighborhood pool.
The man was rescued on Saturday night thanks to the quick actions of citizens and Baltimore Police's Foxtrot helicopter crew.
A flight officer performed CPR before fire crews arrived and took over care, and the man was hospitalized in serious condition.
On Instagram, Mayor Scott praised the officers involved and reminded the public to swim only when pools are open and to never swim without a lifeguard present.
