Former daycare worker indicted on child sexual exploitation charges

(Baltimore, MD) -- A former daycare worker has been indicted on federal charges in connection with child sexual abuse crimes.

Simone Avery, 23, of Baltimore is charged with one count of sexually exploiting a child and two counts of possessing child sexual abuse material.

Authorities say Avery was working as a substitute at a daycare when she allegedly produced two files showing a prepubescent minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Prosecutors also say she had more explicit images on her iPhone and a hard drive.

If convicted, Avery faces 15 to 30 years for sexually exploiting a child and ten to 20 years for possessing the child sex abuse material.

Federal authorities have not publicly named the daycare facility.
