CD of the Month

With so many new jazz CDs being released every week, you can trust Program and Music Director Marcellus Shepard to select the best new offerings. WEAA’s CD of the Month is carefully selected from hundreds of albums, and our hosts play selected tracks from the release throughout that month’s jazz programming. In addition, listeners have several opportunities throughout the month to win the CD and add it to their own collections.

November CD: Spur of the Moment's "N2 Deep"

I got excited when I heard the DC-based band Spur of the Moment was recording a new project. Spur of the Moment has been blessing us with some incredible music for the last two decades. After a hiatus from recording, they return with an incredible CD titled, “N2 Deep.”

Over the years, we've known Spur of the Moment to be an instrumental band with vocal presence. But for this go-round, they switch things up on us, allowing the vocals to be the lead of the band. Vocalists on the project include Levi Stephens, J. Rych, Kenny Allen, and Baltimore’s own Grammy-nominated vocalist Maysa.

To bring it all together, Spur of the Moment pulls in the contemporary heavyweight super-producer Chris Big Dog Davis. Davis puts his production prowess into motion with the wizardry of guitarist and band leader Wayne Bruce. Tune in all month long to hear selections from the latest CD of Spur of the Moment, N2 Deep.
