BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — Jazz pianist and rhythm and blues singer Patrice Rushen joins Robert Shahid to talk about her musical journey and challenges faced as a Black woman in a male-dominated industry.
Admired by many for her groundbreaking achievements, the multi-grammy nominated artist became one of the music industry’s most versatile and sought after musicians.
The award-winning performer, who found success in the 70’s and 80’s, has been the first female musical director for many entertainment award shows including: Grammy Awards, the Emmy Awards, the People’s Choice Awards, the NAACP Image Awards and HBO’s “Comic Relief V.”
