Morgan State's men's basketball team saw its MEAC Tournament run end Wednesday, falling to seventh-seeded Delaware State 75 to 70 in overtime in Norfolk, Virginia.
The second-seeded Bears held a 62 to 60 lead early in overtime on two free throws from Christian Meeks, but Delaware State responded by scoring seven of the next nine points and never looked back. Morgan State could not close the gap as the Hornets made 11 of 12 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Wynston Worrell was a bright spot for the Bears, scoring nine straight points to open the second half and helping Morgan State rally from a 12-point halftime deficit. The Bears tied the game seven times and had the lead in overtime before the Hornets pulled away.
Delaware State, which lost both regular season meetings against Morgan State and entered the tournament at 7 and 22, advances to Friday's semifinals. The Bears' season ends with the quarterfinal loss.
