(WEAA) — Dr. Cassandra Claxton's path to the top of the media industry started close to home.
She grew up in northwest Baltimore and got her start as an overnight assignment editor at WBAL-TV.
Today, Claxton is a multi-Emmy Award-winning producer, television and marketing executive and co-owner of Franchise TV Entertainment.
She joined host Deanna Neal for a conversation about what it takes to build a career in media.
Claxton credited consistency and tenacity as the keys to her success, adding that character and the ability to adapt are equally important. She also spoke about the value of mentorship and the need for structure in her personal and professional life, including giving yourself grace and prioritizing family.
