(Washington, DC) -- Maryland's Congressional Delegation has released a statement on the two-year anniversary of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse.
The delegation says the disaster took six lives and resulted in harmful aftershocks that reverberated throughout the Port of Baltimore, the state and the nation.
Team Maryland says it acted quickly to deliver federal funding to recover those lost, clear the shipping channel and get Port workers back on the job.
The team then worked in a bipartisan effort to pass the Baltimore BRIDGE Relief Act into law. The lawmakers say the Port is making a strong comeback while the state continues to make headway in the reconstruction process.
The delegation says it will keep fighting to ensure the federal government delivers on its legal commitment to fund 100 percent of the bridge rebuild.
