Philadelphia native Robert E. Shahid grew up with a constant musical influence. His mother sang opera, his aunt composed and played piano, his grandfather sang in the famed Philadelphia Male Chorus, and his uncle was a legendary vibraphonist for Dave Brubeck, Lynn Hope, and Red Prysock. With those musical influences, Robert studied drums in high school and, after graduating from Florida A&M University, later founded The New Philadelphia Jazz Quintet.

Joi Thomas is host of Gospel Grace Afternoon, which airs from 1-5 p.m. She also serves as the media relations and promotions director for New Psalmist Baptist Church in Baltimore. There, she produces and hosts the church’s nationally televised broadcast, does voice overs for commercials, serves as editor and chief of Empowering Disciples magazine,and leads the Creative Arts department. Overall, she manages the image of New Psalmist and its pastor, Bishop Walter S. Thomas, Sr.—who also happens to be her father.

DJ Henry da Man is a Baltimore-based DJ who spins all types of house music, from deep and soulful to uptempo grooves and bangin' classics to the uplifting and gospel-inspired. His sets are built around strong vocals, jazz-quality instrumentation, and smooth, sensuous blends. He has been mixing for more than 20 years and is a perfectionist with a fine-tuned ear and exceptional editing skills. He has a vault of hundreds of mixed CDs, which he puts together regularly to keep his skills sharp and his fans inspired.
